在3月1日上午,AIC成功举办了DP2学生的CAS展。CAS,作为IB课程核心的创造、活动与服务项目,不仅是学生学术成长的必要部分,也是国际课程中的关键环节。此次展示中,学生们分享了他们在CAS旅程中学到的技能,成就,以及他们如何克服所面临的最大挑战。通过CAS经历,AIC学生们在个人和学术上都实现了显著成长。CAS不直接影响最终成绩,但对于学生的综合素质提升和未来专业申请具有不可估量的价值。

AIC successfully hosted the DP2 students' CAS Exhibition. CAS, as a cornerstone of the IB curriculum involving Creativity, Activity, and Service, is not just an essential component for academic growth but also a critical element within international curricula. During the exhibition, students shared the skills they developed throughout their CAS journey, their achievements, and how they overcame their biggest challenges. Through their experiences in CAS, AIC students have shown significant growth both personally and academically. Although CAS does not directly impact the final grade, its value in enhancing students' overall qualities and aiding in future university applications is immeasurable.

什么是CAS?

What is CAS?


IB课程的CAS(Creativity, Activity, Service,即创造力、活动、服务)是国际文凭(International Baccalaureate,IB)课程的三大核心要素之一,旨在促进学生的全人发展。CAS鼓励IB学生在学术学习之外,通过参与创造性活动、身体活动和志愿服务活动,培养自己的兴趣与爱好,提高社会责任感,以及发展个人技能和团队合作能力。


CAS的核心在于鼓励学生在创造力、活动和服务这三个领域中寻找平衡通过实践活动促进个人成长和自我认知。完成CAS项目是获得IB文凭的必要条件,反映了IB教育对学生全面发展的重视。


参与CAS项目的学生需要通过ManageBac系统向学校展示他们已至少在每个学习成果上取得一次实现,这通常通过学生在CAS计划过程中的反思记录来证明。这种方法不仅帮助学生记录和反思他们的学习过程,也使教育者能够更好地评估学生的成长和进步。


在实践中,AIC为学生提供了丰富的CAS参与机会。通过校内外的多样化活动,IBDP学生们有机会展示他们的CAS项目成果,这些活动不仅丰富了学生的学习体验,也强化了AIC学习者社区的联系和学生的社会责任感。


The CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) component of the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum is one of the three core elements of the IB program, aimed at fostering students' holistic development. CAS encourages IB students to engage in creative, physical, and volunteer service activities beyond their academic studies, nurturing their interests and hobbies, enhancing their sense of social responsibility, and developing personal skills and teamwork capabilities.


At the heart of CAS is the encouragement for students to find balance among creativity, activity, and service, promoting personal growth and self-awareness through experiential learning. Completing CAS experiences is a requirement for obtaining the IB diploma, reflecting the IB education's emphasis on students' all-around development.


Students participating in CAS experiences must demonstrate to their schools through the ManageBac system that they have achieved each learning outcome at least once, usually evidenced by reflections recorded during the CAS journey. This approach not only helps students document and reflect on their learning process but also allows educators to better assess students' growth and progress.


In practice, AIC offers a wealth of opportunities for student involvement in CAS. Through a variety of activities both inside and outside the school, IBDP students have the chance to showcase their CAS experiences outcomes. These activities not only enrich students' learning experiences but also strengthen the bonds within the AIC learning community and reinforce students' sense of social responsibility.

CAS Experience: 

Personal Growth and Teamwork Triumphs


CAS项目的最重要成果之一是个人成长的实现和新技能的掌握。如划龙舟、舞狮、ASDAN商赛、社区标识翻译、园艺和粤语推广等等具有意义的社团,看似简单,揭示了团队合作和体力耐力的重要性。学生们发现这些活动的成功在很大程度上依赖于团队的紧密合作和个人努力,从而对团队合作和所涉及的挑战有了更深的认识。


CAS旅程还呈现了重大挑战,特别是在平衡CAS项目与学术责任方面。有效管理时间、协调大型活动和处理意外挫折的需求考验了学生的创造力和毅力。然而,通过同伴和导师的支持,他们成功地克服了这些障碍,以更强的韧性和问题解决能力浮出水面。


此外,随着学生们承担CAS项目的规划和执行,领导力和组织技能的作用变得明显。这一过程需要明确的目标、周密的计划和团队内有效的沟通。这种实践经验不仅提高了他们的项目管理技能,还凸显了每个成员对实现共同目标的贡献的价值。


One of the most important outcomes of the CAS experience is the realization of personal growth and mastery of new skills. Activities such as dragon boating, lion dancing, ASDAN business competition, community signage translation, gardening, and the promotion of Cantonese, while seemingly simple, revealed the importance of teamwork and physical endurance. Students discovered that the success of these activities largely depended on the close cooperation of the team and individual efforts, leading to a deeper understanding of teamwork and the challenges involved.


The CAS journey also presented significant challenges, particularly in balancing CAS experiences with academic responsibilities. The need to manage time effectively, coordinate large events, and handle unexpected setbacks tested students' creativity and perseverance. However, with the support of peers and mentors, they successfully overcame these obstacles, emerging with greater resilience and problem-solving abilities.


Moreover, as students took on the planning and execution of CAS projects, the role of leadership and organizational skills became apparent. This process required clear goals, thorough planning, and effective communication within the team. This hands-on experience not only enhanced their project management skills but also highlighted the value of each member's contribution to achieving a common goal.

Student‘s Reflection


Angel Zou






Completing CAS is an important part of getting an IB diploma. Throughout 18 months CAS journey I participated in CAS such as Fitness and cooking, and organised CAS such as Band Night, Movie analysis, and school assembly.


The purpose of CAS is to help IBer to achieve 7 Learning Outcomes(LO). For me, I think the most significant achievement during my CAS journey is my personal growth in undertaking challenges. I organised Move analysis for an entire academic year last year, where most of my participants were Foundation/IG students. So in addition to fulfilling my purpose of organising this CAS, which is to help participants gain better awareness of Global issues and improve their literary analytical skills,


I also need to keep the session informative and funny to keep their attention. Eventually, the CAS was popular and was conducted successfully, we had products such as posters, and interview videos.


Moreover, CAS experiences also pushed me out of my comfort zone. I tried physical activities like dragon boating, kayak, and fitness, which was lacking in my past lives. I realised the importance of outdoor activities. My focus shifted from solely academic goals but also physical health from these experiences, and I genuinely am grateful for that. 


完成CAS(创造性、活动、服务)是获得IB文凭的重要部分。在18个月的CAS旅程中,我参与了健身和烹饪等CAS活动,并组织了乐队之夜、电影分析和学校集会等CAS活动。


CAS的目的是帮助IB学生实现7个学习成果(LO)。对我而言,我认为CAS旅程中最重要的成就是在面对挑战时的个人成长。去年,我组织了一整学年的电影分析活动,其中大部分参与者是基础和IG学生。所以,除了实现组织这个CAS的目的——帮助参与者更好地意识到全球问题并提高他们的文学分析技能之外,我还需要保持会议内容信息丰富且有趣,以吸引他们的注意力。最终,这个CAS活动非常受欢迎并成功举行,我们产出了如海报和访谈视频等成果。


此外,CAS体验也促使我走出了舒适区。我尝试了像划龙舟、皮划艇和健身等体育活动,这在我以往的生活中是缺失的。我意识到户外活动的重要性。这些经历使我不仅关注学术目标,也关注身体健康,我为此感到真诚的感激。

在我的CAS旅程中,我认为参与ASDAN商业比赛和Model Youth Economic Forum (MYEF)是我学到的最重要的课程和技能。这些经历不仅深化了我对商业、金融和经济学的理解,还锻炼了我的沟通能力和团队合作精神。特别是,通过模拟市场和公司运营的ASDAN商业比赛,我获得了宝贵的实践经验,为未来的商科学习奠定了坚实的基础。同时,作为MYEF的领导者之一,我与团队成员共同组织了财富流模拟游戏,这不仅促进了我的领导力,还增强了我的项目规划和执行能力。


我在CAS旅程中最引以为傲的成就是通过参与各种活动,如划龙舟和舞狮,我学会了许多新技能,这些活动强调了团队合作的重要性。面对挑战,尤其是在平衡CAS活动和学术任务方面,我通过创意和团队支持克服了难关,提高了时间管理能力。这些经历不仅促进了我的个人成长,还为我在学术和职业道路上的成功奠定了基础,让我意识到了超出课堂学习之外的广阔世界,以及综合技能在未来学术追求和职业生涯中的重要性。



During my CAS journey, I found participating in the ASDAN Business Challenge and the Model Youth Economic Forum (MYEF) to be the most valuable experiences, deepening my understanding of business, finance, and economics while enhancing my communication and teamwork skills. The ASDAN Business Challenge, simulating market operations and decision-making processes, laid a solid foundation for my future studies in commerce. Leading MYEF allowed me to collaborate on organizing a wealth flow simulation game, boosting my leadership, project planning, and execution skills.


My proudest achievement in CAS was learning new skills through activities such as dragon boating and lion dancing, highlighting the importance of teamwork. Facing challenges, especially balancing CAS activities with academic responsibilities, I overcame obstacles with creativity and team support, improving my time management skills. These experiences not only contributed to my personal growth but also laid the groundwork for future academic and professional success, opening my eyes to the broader world beyond classroom learning and the importance of holistic skills for future endeavors.

在参加中国传统文化CAS活动中,我深入学习了中国文化,特别是古文和古诗。这些知识不仅让我对中国文化有了更深刻的理解,还让我对中医的治疗方法及其独特的疗效有了更全面的认识,尤其是那些常规医疗手段无法治愈的疾病。


在南沙翻译CAS项目中,我们为社区做出了贡献。我们访问了当地医院,发现了许多缺乏英文指示的设施,并在回校后将其翻译成英文,以帮助更多外籍人士在中国就医时能够更加便利。


通过参与羽毛球CAS课程,我认识到了团队合作和沟通的重要性。我发现,当我与队友之间的协调和理解达到一个良好的水平时,我们的表现显著提升。为了进一步加强团队合作,我们决定投入更多时间进行共同练习,专注于执行同步动作和配合,通过定期演练和练习,我们逐渐深入了解了彼此的优势和弱点。


CAS活动中遇到的主要挑战之一是在翻译医院标识的过程中,我们需要将中文准确无误地翻译成英文。由于涉及许多专业术语,这个任务相对较为困难。


通过参与CAS活动,我学到了团队合作的重要性,并且明白了面对困难时不应该轻易放弃,而应该努力克服挑战,解决问题。



During my participation in the Traditional Chinese Culture CAS, I delved deeply into Chinese culture, focusing on ancient texts and poems. This knowledge not only deepened my understanding of Chinese culture but also provided me with comprehensive insights into the methods and unique efficacies of Traditional Chinese Medicine, especially regarding ailments that conventional medical practices cannot cure.


In the Nansha Translation CAS project, we contributed to the community by visiting local hospitals and identifying facilities lacking English signage. After returning to school, we translated these signs into English to assist more foreigners in navigating healthcare services in China more conveniently.


Through the Badminton CAS course, I realized the importance of teamwork and communication. I noticed a significant improvement in our performance when there was good coordination and understanding between my teammates and me. To enhance our cooperation further, we decided to spend more time practicing together, focusing on executing synchronized movements and coordination. Through regular drills and practice, we gradually gained a deeper understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses.


One of the main challenges encountered during the CAS activities was the translation of hospital signage, where we needed to accurately translate the Chinese text into English. This task was relatively difficult due to the involvement of many specialized terms.


Participating in CAS activities taught me the importance of teamwork and the understanding that one should not give up easily when facing difficulties. Instead, we should strive to overcome challenges and solve problems.

The CAS experiences embodies the core philosophy of IB education – fostering individuals who are globally aware and well-rounded. It not only complements the challenging academic components of the IB program but also helps students recognize their roles and responsibilities in society, evolving into capable, compassionate, and responsible global citizens. Therefore, CAS is an indispensable part of the IB curriculum, playing a crucial role in achieving the goal of holistic education.
