亲爱的学生，教职工和远程参加开学典礼的家长们，欢迎你们进入新的学年！  

To our pupils, our staff and to our parents watching this remotely - Welcome to the new academic year.

我们当中有一部分是在建校年加入的，但还有很多人是新面孔。我们非常高兴看到越来越多的学生加入我们的广州斐特思公学的大家庭—传承着英国斐特思公学150年历史高质量教育。

Some of you were with us in our first year last year, but so many more are new. We are so pleased to see more and more pupils joining our Fettes family.

You are joining a school which is very new, but which comes with the history of Fettes in Scotland – with it 150 years of the highest quality education.

In short, you are here to get so much more than just academic results. You will also develop skills of collaboration, communication, and leadership – this is what makes Fettesiansdifferent. You are now part of a very special family, spread across many generations and across the whole world.

Our Mottos is INDUSTRIA – which means to act deliberately, with a clear purpose, intentionally and with great energy. We expect this of you each and every day, but we also expect it of ourselves as teachers and leaders.

Our number 1 value is family – we are a boarding school and so you should feel at home. Even if you are not a boarder now, you are welcome in the boarding house and you will have the chance to join in with events. FCG should feel like your second family, with lots of brothers and sisters and lots of people you can talk to.

Academic value. You are working toward a place in the top universities in the world. To do this you need to achieve your best results and we have prepared a fantastic team of teachers to make this happen. Ask them questions, be curious, and expect the best.

Nurture. Fettesians look after each other. It doesn’t matter if you are Grade 1 or Grade 10, one of the things that makes you strong is looking out for each other. By being at this school you are now part of a network that connects you worldwide.

Collaboration. Learning can often be individual. You cannot sit an examination paper in a group and your results will be yours alone. Make it your goal to learn this skillshere and now, this year.

Personality is one of my favourites. Many schools create classrooms where everyone is the same, the expectation is the same, the work is the same. This is false. There is only one of you and every person in this room has something different to offer. Celebrate these differences, do not mock them, and you will learn the most important skill of all – acceptance.

灵感。 你们努力学习、热爱学习的精神激励着我，也激励着校园里的每一位职工。 你有一个独一无二的机会，在一个极好的环境里，一分钟也不要浪费。  

Inspiration. You all inspire me, and the same is true for my colleagues when you work hard and show your love of learning. You have a unique opportunity, in an excellent environment, do not waste one minute of it.

Charlotte Marsh是我们学院的新人文心智关怀副校长，她对学校里的每个人都负有责任，她关注学生的健康，尤其关注寄宿问题。  

Mrs Charlotte Marsh is our new deputy Head of College, replacing Mr. Bennie from last year. Mrs Marsh is responsible for everyone in the school, concentrating on wellbeing and with a particular focus on Boarding.

Fiona Daly是我们小学和中学的新副校长。 她是一名英语专家，曾经在两所学校任教。 她关注学生的行为，确保孩子表现达到最高标准。  

Ms. Fiona Daly is our new DeputyHead for Primary and Middle School. She is an English specialist and will be teaching in both schools. She also has a focus on pupil behavior, so make sure your discipline is at the highest standard.

Pierce Brown是我们的寄宿部舍监。 他在爱丁堡的斐特思公学和英国一流的寄宿学校都有丰富的经验。

Mr. Pierce Brown is our BoardingHouseparent. He has been with us all of last year but only just arrived in Guangzhou from the UK. He has fantastic experience from Fettes in Edinburgh but also from the leading boarding schools in England. We are pleased to finally see him in real life – not just on screen

我们正在等待更多的教学团队，有些来自英国，有些来自中东，甚至一些来自南美。 他们给我们学校带来的体验将是非常棒的，这是非常令人兴奋的，随着我们一年的前进，学校只会变得越来越好。  

We are waiting on even more of our teaching team, some from the UK, some from the Middle East, even some from south America. The experience that they add to our school will be fantastic and it is very exciting that as we move through the year the school will only get better and better.

Our site is now fully open – the facilities available to you are at the highest level of any school, not just inChina but in the whole world.

我期待着看到你们所有人在教室里，在操场上，在这个剧院里表演——这对我们所有人来说都是一个激动人心的时刻!  

It is your job to make every moment count. It is your job to make use of the resources that your teachers offer you and it is your job to take responsibility for your own learning.

I look forward to seeing you all in the classrooms, on the sports field, and performing here in this theatre – it is an exciting time for us all!
