Chinese New Year Celebrations at NAIS Pudong 我们欢庆龙年春节

At NAIS Pudong, our celebration of Chinese New Year was an extraordinary feast that captured the community across a few days. The whole campus was filled with a festive atmosphere as students participated in a variety of fun and culturally rich activities, adding a unique and festive atmosphere to the upcoming Year of the Dragon.

One of the most interactive and enjoyable activities was the whole school dumpling making. From primary school to secondary school, everyone hand-packed their favourite fillings, supported by our parent group who delivered instructions. After the dumplings were wrapped, the canteen staff quickly cooked them, and everyone shared their delicious treats.

Our early years children were particularly excited when our Year 4 students were kind enough to take them to participate in the Chinese book reading activity and read stories to them as their little teachers.

The Chinese staff designed a Dragon and Lion Dance programme for the children to learn the charm of traditional culture in a playful way. What was even more exciting was performance in the theatre by a professional team who put on a wonderful show for everyone. In addition, the school provided Early Years children with the opportunity to learn Chinese drums, allowing them to experience the charm of traditional Chinese music in the theatre setting.

The Secondary students also found some interesting challenges across the campus, with elaborate crossword puzzles hanging from the trees. It was not only an exercise for the mind, but also a dual experience of laughter and challenge in a Chinese festive classic.

For the faculty and staff, our PCA presented them with delicious dumplings to show their appreciation for their hard work. At this time when the Chinese New Year is approaching, this thoughtful act made all of our staff feel warm and appreciated by our wonderful parent team.

On Wednesday, the school invited parents to join the special Chinese themed lunch – a great opportunity for our whole community to come together as one and enjoy this special time of year together. The campus was wrapped in the flavour of Chinese New Year, with everyone dressed in clothing themed around the festive celebration.

Through this series of activities, we’ve embodied our values of embracing creativity through things like calligraphy painting and puzzles; we’ve built confidence through student performances on stage and we’ve encouraged our students to be considerate as they acknowledge the importance surrounding this traditional cultural celebration.

在上海英国学校浦东校区，我们欢度春节的活动可谓是一场热闹多日的非凡盛宴。整个校园弥漫着浓厚的年味儿，学生们纷纷参与各种有趣且富有传统文化底蕴的活动，为即将到来的龙年春节增添了一份别样的喜庆氛围。

学校内传来欢笑声最多的地方，就是全校的师生们都参与的活动——包饺子。从小学到中学，每个人都亲手动手包制自己喜欢的馅料，可见一个欢快的大场面。包完饺子后食堂的叔叔阿姨们迅速烹饪出来，大家分享着自己包的饺子，有一种家的温暖感觉。

最开心的应该是我们幼儿部的小朋友们。四年级的哥哥姐姐们贴心地带着他们一起参与中文图书的阅读活动，做他们的小老师给他们讲故事。

中文老师为学生们精心设计了学习舞龙舞狮的课程，让他们在游戏中感受到传统文化的魅力。更令人振奋的是，学生们还有幸去剧院参与专业人士的表演，为大家献上了一场精彩绝伦的演出。此外，学校还为Early Years的孩子们提供了学习中国鼓的机会，他们在小小年纪就能感受到中国音乐的魅力。

中学部的学生们也在校园内发现了一些有趣的挑战，树上悬挂着精心设计的字谜，激发了他们解谜的热情和智慧。这不仅能锻炼思维，也是中国节日非常经典的乐趣和挑战。

而对于教职工们来说，PCA更是特地为他们送上了美味的饺子，表达了对他们辛勤工作的感激之情。在这个春节即将到来的时刻，这份贴心的关怀让每一位教职工都感到温暖和被珍视。

在最后一个上课日的中午，学校特地邀请了家长们一同参与午宴，共同享受这个温馨而难得的时刻。整个校园被年味包裹，每个人都穿着喜庆的衣服或者中式新衣，沉浸在节日氛围中。

我们通过书法绘画和拼图等活动来体现我们的创造力价值观；我们通过学生的舞台表演来建立学生的自信心；我们还鼓励学生们在庆祝这一传统文化节日的同时，明白照顾他人的同理心。
