Orchid Park Secondary School

新加坡, 10 Yishun Street 81, S768454

学校简介

Orchid Park Sec School saw its genesis in January 1999 on the premises of Woodlands Ring Secondary School. The pioneers comprised a sterling staff of 16 and a student population of 360. It was on these premises that principal and teaching staff, fired by an ardent sense of purpose, crafted a lofty vision and a noble mission to set the direction for the new school.

Core values were encapsulated in the school’s 4As – Attendance, Attentiveness, Assignments and Attire. With the foundation firmly in place, the historic move was made on Monday, 13th September 1999 to the school’s own premises at No.10, Yishun Street 81. Orchid Park Secondary School, already noted for its exemplary discipline, was now poised to take off, guided by the school’s simple but compelling motto ‘Onward and Persevere’.

关于我们

The education landscape has undergone many exciting changes in recent years, and will continue to evolve as it responds to an unprecedented flux of socio-economic and technological forces. These shape our current reality and create the schooling experiences that continue to enable all our children to learn and thrive.

Undergirded by a common belief that every child can and wants to learn, schools strive to bring out the best in all of them. I have always believed that one’s teenage years are the best and most critical years to lay the foundation for how one truly grows up and fulfil one’s potential. Whether in terms of values, beliefs or aspirations, these years lay the bedrock and create the dreams and memories that the teenagers will bring forth in their journey through life. These are also the best years for teenagers to leverage the opportunities in school to learn and appreciate the importance of having choices, making informed decisions and managing the consequences of these decisions. They also learn to network, be inclusive, appreciate perspectives and find the confidence in letting their voices be heard.

Orchid Park is a relatively young school, exuding the youth and vibrancy that belie the maturity of our programmes and the experiences of our staff members. Anchored on our forte in the aesthetics, as well as a focus on youth leadership, we develop our students’ skills and dispositions to be the best versions of themselves and fulfil their potential beyond the confines of the classroom and academic grades. At the same time, we harness the affordances of technology and virtual learning spaces to equip them with the competencies to be useful and fulfilled citizens of the 21st century. Orchid Park began its Full Subject-Based Banding (FSBB) journey in 2022 as a Phase 1 school, enabling greater porosity and flexibility across progression pathways, encouraging positive social mixing within all form classes and customising the curricula to best cater to the needs and interests of each child.

As the school anthem goes, there is indeed no mountain too high to scale and no ocean too wide to sail for all Orchidians, as long they demonstrate the grit and tenacity to persevere and strive ever onward, and embrace the opportunities that the school provides for them to live up to the school’s vision – empowered learners, compassionate leaders and future-ready Orchidians. This pursuit of excellence is strongly supported by our Orchidian network, including the School Advisory Committee, Parent Support Group, the Orchid Park Alumni and our community partners.

Orchid Park is celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2024, so here is a huge shout-out to all alumni to reconnect with the school and visit our website for updates on a range of events next year. And to all Orchidians past and present, and to prospective students, I hope you will embrace the school’s vision and blossom into innovative and cultured persons of integrity, compassion, resilience, respect and responsibility.
