上海宏润博源建设上海之美食之旅||A Local History on Street Food

冬日，寒冷的风挡不住同学们美食活动的热情。早在“建设上海”活动周开始之前，大家就已经摩拳擦掌，期待活动周到来。本次美食组的目的是品尝上海本地特色小吃，观察上海小吃对区域文化、经济、生活的推进。
The cold winter winds couldn’t hold back students’ enthusiasm to go out and taste the street foods of Shanghai. Long before the week of “Building Shanghai” programs arrived, everyone had been eagerly looking forward to it. Our project group, called “ A Local History on Street Food”, aimed to taste many of the local snacks of Shanghai, and witness how they contribute to the local culture, economy and people’s life.
美食组的负责老师是Joshua与韩骁老师。韩老师告诉我们这周的行程，Joshua为我们介绍旅途中的任务。我们三人一组，在周一的下午前往学校附近的朱家角古镇。进入古镇，同学们就像脱缰的野马，一下子就不见了踪影。我与组员们边寻找纸上的地点，边采访路边摊主，边吃着食物。
Our group was in the charge of Mr. Joshua and Mr. Han. Mr. Han informed us of this week’s schedule, while Joshua assigned us different tasks to be performed on the way. By dividing ourselves into groups of 3, we went to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, which is a tourist attraction nearest to our school. On walking into the ancient town, the students suddenly disappeared without a trace just like runaway horses. While searching for places on the map, I, together with some team members, was interviewing stall owners on the roadside and eating the foods they sold at the same time.
朱家角镇上叫卖声不绝于耳。“海棠糕——”“糖糕契伐——”普通话夹着浓浓的地方口音，随处可闻，桔红糕与芡实糕的买家也积极揽客。朱家角的肉制食品十分受游客青睐，走油蹄、扎肉等；肉店店主为我们介绍了走油蹄并告诉我们，朱家角大部分的食客都为了吃上走油蹄而来。
On the streets of Zhujijiao town, vendors’ hawking could be constantly heard. “Begonia cake...;Sugar cakes...” Those vendors spoke mandarin mixed with strong local accents. Vendors selling orange cakes and gorgon fruit cakes were busy attracting customers. Zhujiajiao’s meat products such as fried boiled pork hoof and boned and rolled pork were very popular with tourists. The storekeeper introduced the fried boiled pork hoof to us and told us that most of the customers came here specially for it.
当然还有著名的粽子，粽子门店上还几乎都标着“阿婆粽子”招牌。朱家角镇经济文化因品名而延申。
Of course, there was the famous “Zongzi”, and nearly all the store selling Zongzi hung the signboard named “A Po Zongzi”. The culture and economy of Zhujiajiao town are spread by many brands.
第二天一早，我们启程前往位于嘉定南翔古镇两个博物馆。分别了解古镇的故事与历史、小笼包的制作与传承以及古镇著名人物和大事件，从中获取了许多从前不知道的知识。
Early next morning, we set off for two museums located in Nanxiang ancient town, Jiading District. We visited them to learn about the stories and history of the ancient town, the making and inheritance of the “Xiaolong baozi”, steamed dumplings, and famous people and events of the ancient town respectively. We learned a lot we had known nothing about before.
之后，我们在古镇中游走。南翔镇上好多的店家门口都挂着旗帜，显得古镇很有蓬勃的朝气，我们也一路上用手机记录下了古镇的样貌与我们的路程。下午前往万象城。在万象城内逛了许久，轻松与欢乐。南翔小笼的名声早已耳闻，这次前去也尝到了本土的特色小笼，令我们十分高兴。
Later, we went on a sightseeing tour in the ancient town. Flags were hung at the doors to many stores in Nanxing ancient town, making it vigorous. On the way, we recorded what the ancient town looked like and also our trip by taking photos and shooting videos. In the afternoon, we headed for the Mixc Mall and spent a lot of time shopping around inside the mall, feeling relaxed and happy. The “Nanxiang steamed dumplings” had been enjoying a long-lasting reputation, so we were very pleased this time to be able to taste this local and traditional snack.
位于市中心的豫园美食十分出名。第三天，我们先一早进园内游览，许多小店散发传统文化的味道——题诗的，做香袋的，画糖画的，看到不少受文化遗产保护的手艺，手指画、剪纸和微刻艺术等。
The “Yu Garden” located in downtown Shanghai is very famous for its delicious foods. On the early morning of the third day, we entered the Garden for sightseeing, and saw many stores displaying traditional and cultural elements, such as poem-inscribing, perfume satchel-making, and sugar painting. We also witnessed many crafts preserved as non-material cultural heritage, such as finger painting, paper cutting and micro carving etc.
午饭后，我们跟着老师一起品尝了包子与汤圆。在了解了包子的做法，汤圆店的历史后，前往位于豫园中心的南翔小笼店，所有同学都体验自制包小笼包，十分乐在其中。再次从店里出来的时候，外面的天空已经暗下来了，但是豫园却比起早晨更有一番风味。
After lunch, we tasted steamed stuffed buns and sweet dumplings together with our teachers. After we learned how to make steamed stuffed buns and the history of the store selling sweet dumplings, we headed for the restaurant in the centre of the Yu Garden, which sold Nanxiang steamed dumplings. All the students enjoyed trying making dumplings by themselves. It was already dark outside when we stepped out of the restaurant, but we found that the Yu Garden had more flavors than it did in the morning.
走在豫园九曲桥上，观看每年元宵节才全开放的莲花灯及花灯造像，让我们在品尝小食的同时，感受了上海人的生活风情，精致而雅俗共赏的特点。
Walking on the zigzag bridge in Yu Garden, watching the lotus lanterns and other lanterns which are open to public only on the Lanterns Festival each year and eating snacks at the same time, we experienced the lifestyle of Shanghai people, which is exquisite yet suits both refined and popular tastes.
最后一天，我们再次前往朱家角古镇取素材，这次去比前一次有了不一样的感受，古镇更加安静与平和，小街上方露出一道长长的由屋檐檐角勾勒出的廊角天空，朱家角的居民坐在石板上聊天，小孩子提着玩具跑来跑去，朱家角的生活气息融入了古镇的繁华与闹市，更让我们看到了不一样的本土上海人的生活画面。
On the last day, we headed for the ancient town of Zhujiajiao again to collect our materials for our project. We realized something different from last time--- the ancient town appeared more quiet and peaceful; people were sitting on the slab stone and chatting under their porch and eave; kids were running around with toys in their hands. The vitality of Zhujiajiao was mixed with its prosperity, vividly showing us how the local townspeople lived.
美食组活动让人十分有感触。我们不仅了解到了小食的历史，品尝了食物，体验了小笼包的做法，还看到了不一样的风土人情，开阔视野。而我们也明白了建设上海真正的意义，从一个角度切入，了解这个城市的文化，感受这个城市的风貌，在玩乐中获得知识，在快乐中慢慢成长。作为美食组的一员，这次活动给我留下了美妙的回忆。
The Food Project has left a deep impression on us. We broaden our horizon not only by learning the history of snacks, tasting different foods, making the steamed dumplings by ourselves, but also by witnessing unique customs and practices. We came to realize the real significance of “Building Shanghai” program--- to try to understand the culture of this city and feel its styles and features from one perspective; to acquire knowledge and grow up by playing and having fun. As a member of this project group, I was greatly impressed by this event, which will leave me a wonderful memory.
