Our excursion to the Shenzhen Museum of Urban Planning provided an invaluable opportunity for our Grade One IB PYP students to extend their understanding of our local community and its evolution over time. 




Students had the chance to make their own city using the fun “Sim City” urban planners app. Our trip gave them insight and context as they had just spent the last two weeks creating their own city from scratch. 




Immersing ourselves in the exhibits, we engaged with the rich history of Shenzhen, tracing its journey from a quaint fishing village to the vibrant urban center it is today. Through interactive displays and informative presentations, we gained insight into the complex processes of urbanization and sustainable development, aligning with the transdisciplinary nature of the IB Primary Years Program.




By exploring the museum's depictions of urban and rural communities, our students deepened their understanding of societal dynamics, cultural preservation, and the significance of community engagement. These experiences not only complemented our classroom inquiries but also fostered critical thinking and global awareness, integral components of the IB learner profile.


As we reflect on our museum visit, we recognize its profound impact in nurturing internationally-minded individuals who are equipped to navigate an ever-changing world. This immersive educational experience exemplified the philosophy of inquiry-based learning, empowering our students to inquire, explore, and make meaningful connections with their local environment!

深圳当代艺术与城市规划馆为我们国际文凭PYP项目一年级的学生提供了一次宝贵的学习机会,让他们进一步了解本地社区及其随着时间的推移而发生的变化。






在过去的两周里,学生们也在使用有趣的 "模拟城市 "应用程序,从零开始创建属于自己的城市。






沉浸在展览中,我们了解了深圳丰富的历史,追溯了深圳从一个古朴的渔村发展成为今天这样一座充满活力的中心城市的历程。通过互动展示和内容丰富的介绍,我们深入了解了城市化和可持续发展的复杂过程,这与国际文凭小学课程的跨学科理念不谋而合。






通过博物馆中对城市和农村社区的描述,我们的学生加深了对社会动态、文化保护和社区参与的理解。这样的经历不仅为我们的课堂探究做了补充,还培养了学生的批判性思维和全球意识,这些都是国际文凭学习者非常重要的素质。



当我们回顾博物馆之行时,我们认识到它对培养具有国际视野的人才有着深远的影响,使得他们有能力去驾驭瞬息万变的世界。这种身临其境的教育体验体现了探究式学习的理念,使我们的学生能够探究,探索,并与当地环境建立有意义的联系!
