 SAIS ART FESTIVAL


Hello, SAIS community! This Wednesday, we held our Dream Themed Arts Festival which consists of a fantastic music concert and dream-themed art exhibition. Although mainly for kindergarten through fifth grade, the upper grades also offered their support.

亲爱的深美家人们,本周三我们举办了艺术节,包含音乐会和梦想主题画展两个部分。主要参加学生为幼儿园大班到五年级,不过高年级学生也提供了支持。


The concert had students singing songs about dreams, telling stories about dreams, all accompanied by students playing a variety of instruments.

音乐会部分,学生们合唱了关于梦想的歌曲,讲关于梦想的故事,同时还运用了多种乐器。


Kindergarten sang some songs they learned to sing as a group and played percussion instruments to accompany the song.

幼儿园大班的孩子们演出他们之前学过的歌曲并使用了打击乐器。

 

 

First grade students were in a dream hotel where they produced the ticking of a clock with instruments, sang, and went on a musical elevator to learn about Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Te-Do.

一年级学生将自己置身于梦想的旅馆,用乐器制造出钟表的声音,愉快的歌唱,搭乘着音乐的电梯去学习Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Te-Do。

 

For our Second-grade students they dreamt they were on a boat and sailing the seas. They learned to use xylophones and a triangle to accompany their songs. They even sang a song without any instruments to help them.

我们二年级学生梦想着自己在大海的轮船上航行,他们用木琴和三角形乐器来给自己的演唱伴奏。他们甚至还清唱了一首歌曲。


 

Third grade travelled to the Land of Oz and played the melody on instruments and sang a song in two parts.

三年级学生随乐器上演奏的旋律去了奥兹国并完成含两部分的歌曲。


Fourth grade sang two songs in multiple parts and played xylophone music from the African county of Zimbabwe.

四年级学生多声部的演唱了两首歌曲并用木琴弹奏了来自非洲国家津巴布韦的音乐。


Fifth grade showed their xylophone skills by playing Ode to Joy in three parts and jammed out on ukulele, cajon, and singing with the Irish song Rattlin’ Bog.

五年级分区演奏欢乐颂来展示他们的木琴技巧;除此外,还在尤克里里和卡宏鼓上弹奏;同时他们还演唱了爱尔兰歌曲 Rattlin'Bog。

 

 

The concert ended with a combined song where students sang their hearts out about dreams creating a wonderful wall of sound that our student audience appreciated with a great round of applause.

音乐会以孩子们的大合唱结束,他们会尽力抒发自己内心关于梦想的声音。这些美妙的歌声形成了巨大的音浪,以至我们的学生观众情不自禁的大力鼓掌表示赞赏。


 

 

 

This year’s theme for the art exhibition was ‘What do your dreams look like?’.

第二个部分是我们的艺术展,今年的主题是你的梦想是怎样的?

Ms Anel, our art teacher said: ‘K-G6 & G9 Students have been learning about the Surrealist art movement and how artists made dream-like paintings with special meanings.

Anel,我们的艺术课老师说,大班到六年级以及九年级的学生学习了超现实主义艺术运动以及艺术家们怎样通过画画将梦想以及其特别的含义表达出来。


Students created their own dream-like landscapes inspired by Surrealist art. After this, they created their own artwork to show what their dreams look like. Some were realistic, some were imaginary and others combined a little of both. Students could choose to use pencils, watercolor pencils, or paint for their final artwork.

学生们在超现实主义艺术的启发下创造了自己的梦幻般的画面。在此之后,他们通过自己的艺术品来展示梦想。有些是现实的,有些是虚构的,还有一些两者兼而有之。学生可以选择使用铅笔、水彩笔或颜料来完成他们的最终作品。


Students also wrote a short description about their dream artwork and the meaning behind it’.

学生们还写了关于他们的梦想艺术画作及其背后含义的简短描述。


 

 

A wide variety of thoughts emerged from students, some examined serious problems. Such as a picture from G5 that felt we should not be controlled by electronic things, with so many people today addicted to them. Another picture from G4 told how we should remove rubbish from the sea.

学生有各种各样的想法,某些画作还揭示了严肃的问题。比如六年级的一副画作,提到我们不应该被电子产品控制,而现在有这么多人却沉迷于他们。另一副画作则告诉我们应该保护大海,去除垃圾。


 

After the music performance, students had the chance to walk around and enjoy each  other’s work. The students were so excited to offer their opinions and introduce their own work. While some kindergarten students went through the primary students displays they even stopped by and stared at one of them and said ‘Wow, that’s so cool!’

表演结束后,学生们有机会四处走走,欣赏彼此的作品。学生们非常兴奋地提出自己的意见并介绍自己的画作。一些幼儿园学生在观看小学生组的展示品时,他们甚至停下来盯着其中一个说:“哇,太酷了!”

 

 

Grade 9 students used charcoal to create a stop motion video about their dreams. They created their stop motion video by taking a lot of photos of every movement of their charcoal sketches which is put into order by using an App to create a smooth flowing video and story. 9年级的学生用炭笔制作了关于他们梦想的定格动画视频。他们通过为炭笔素描的每一个变化拍摄大量照片以制作定格动画视频。这些照片会通过应用程序进行排序,以创建流畅的视频和故事。看看我们的视频——它们真的很棒。


 

 

Teachers Andrew and Anel commented: ‘We are so proud of the groups and what they were able to accomplish in such a short time. We began to prepare during the online learning, but the real learning happened once we returned to campus. Students picked songs for their classes, worked hard to learn the songs, and overcame new challenges like having to wear masks for the performance. They were so dedicated to performing well and I am so glad as their efforts. Well done! In addition the artwork has been so well done and well received. We are so excited to see the variety and depth of talent displayed by our students ’
