SUIS活动|第十届协和跨校区模拟联合国大会

A Super Special Sunny Saturday and Sunday at the Sublime SUIS Pudong's Splendid SMUNC

经过连续两天的紧张日程，以及无数次充满激情的辩论与研讨，2024年协和跨校区模拟联合国大会终于圆满落幕。

After 2 long days filled to the brim with intense debates and discussions, the 2024 Cross Campus Model United Nations Conference finally came to a close.

今年我们两个委员会，即安全理事会和联合国教科文组织，聚焦并深入研讨了两大议题：1. 聚集性的冲突—解决中东地区的人道主义问题；2. 将人工智能融入社会：进步、伦理困境和全球影响。

The topics we had for this year’s 2 councils (Security Council and UNESCO) are: Clustered Conflicts-Addressing Humanitarian issues in Middle Eastern Areas & Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Society: Advancements, Ethical Dilemmas and Global Implications.

在模拟联合国活动中，每位学生都肩负着代表一个国家立场的重要使命，这要求他们对这个国家的方针政策、立场倾向以及政府内部的关系网络进行深入的了解和研究。在充分准备的基础上，每位代表都有机会在会议中阐述自己的观点和看法。通过一系列漫长而密集的党团会议和讨论，代表们将各自的努力汇集在一起，综合考虑全球各国的利益和需求，最终为辩论的议题构思出一套全面而均衡的解决方案。这一过程不仅锻炼了学生们的分析和解决问题的能力，也提升了他们的团队合作和外交沟通技巧。

All delegates represented a country and had to research policies, standpoints and relationships involved with their government and country. All delegates presented their viewpoints, and after long caucuses (discussions), they would put in full, combined effort in presenting a final resolution to their debated issue while considering the best global outcome.

在这一过程中，学生们将扮演不同国家的代表角色，投身于公开演讲的舞台。他们必须在规定的时间内巧妙地凝练自己的言辞，以此锻炼并提升语言组织和概括的技巧。模拟联合国所提供的这一平台，不仅培养了学生们洞察时局的能力，还激励他们去寻找志同道合的伙伴，与他们建立起坚实的合作关系。在与同学们的深入交流中，特别是在对数据进行分析和对观点进行辩论的环节，学生们的辩论技能将得到显著的提高。显然，参与模拟联合国活动是一次珍贵的机会，它能够有效地培养和加强一系列关键技能，而这些技能将在学生们未来的学术探索和职业发展中发挥着至关重要的作用。

Furthermore, through representing different countries, students take on the challenge to speak in public under pressure, allowing them to acquire and develop organisation and summary skills, alongside with a time limit. The simulated condition assists students to examine the situation and collaborate with countries sharing similar beliefs. Constant negotiation with other students further elevates debating skills, especially when dealing with comparative data and perspectives. Hence, MUN serves as a great opportunity to cultivate and improve on skills that may be applied in future studies.

The participants also encountered a wide variety of people and perspectives; MUN provides a great opportunity to share ideas and outlooks on the changing world around us. 

联合国教科文组织理事会的以色列代表Eva在活动中感慨地说：“这次模拟联合国活动让我得以从以色列的视角出发，深入挖掘人工智能这一议题。此前，我从未意识到这两者之间可能存在的联系，这启发我开始更多地关注那些不为大众所熟知的国家细节。”正是这场跨校区的模拟联合国会议，通过结识新朋友和展开激烈的讨论，为SUIS浦东校区带来了源源不断的活力与生机。

“This event has allowed me to delve deeper into the topic of AI from the point of view of Israel, country I previously did not associate with AI. It has inspired me to pay more attention to lesser-known aspects of countries,” says Eva, the delegate of Israel in the UNESCO council. Due to the cross-campus quality of this conference, the campus of SUIS Pudong became vibrant with lively introductions to new friends and intense discussions.
