1822年，在哈罗校友约翰·费恩，即韦斯特莫兰伯爵11 世的引领和支持下，英国皇家音乐学院（Royal Academy of Music）正式成立，在此后逾两百年的时光里，对英国音乐的蓬勃发展作出了卓越贡献和深远影响。

以培养高水准的优秀音乐家，并让每个学生都能享受音乐为目标，英国哈罗公学的音乐教育闻名遐称，除了钢琴、管风琴、吉他、风笛和唱歌等经典音乐科目教学并为各种专业音乐考试做准备，学校的管弦乐团、合唱团、乐队积极活跃在大小舞台上，每年有 80 多场音乐会和演出。

哈罗的独特之处在于著名的歌曲集，其中包含 50 多首前任哈罗校长们专门为学校创作的哈罗歌曲，每逢学校典礼和校友活动，这些古老的旋律都会一次次回荡在演出大厅。其中最不得不提的一首，就是哈罗校歌“Forty Years On”，至今仍在全球哈罗学校传颂。

大卫·伍德科克自2005年9月起担任英国哈罗公学的音乐总监。他致力于培养优秀的音乐人才，带领并指导学生们举办每年100多场音乐会。他是英国皇家管风琴学院院士，也是多个国家音乐教育委员会的成员。尽管工作繁忙，他仍抽出时间担任管风琴演奏家和歌手。

In 1822, The Royal Academy of Music was founded under the leadership and support of an Old Harrovian, John Fearn, 11th Earl of Westmorland, and has made a remarkable contribution to the flourishing of music in the UK for over two hundred years.

With the aim of raising the best musicians to a very high standard, whilst also involving every boy in enjoyable musical activity, Harrow School in the UK is renowned for its music education. In addition to teaching the classical music subjects of piano, organ, guitar, bagpipes and singing, and preparing for a wide range of professional music exams, the school's orchestras, choirs and bands are actively involved in both large and small arenas, with more than 80 concerts and performances each year.

Unique to Harrow is its famous Song Book, containing over 50 Harrow Songs that former or present Masters wrote specially for the school. These old favourites have been played all the time at school ceremonies and alumni events. One of the most important of these is the Harrow school song 'Forty Years On', which is still sung at Harrow schools around the world.

in the UK for nearly 20 years
David Woodcock has been Director of Music at Harrow School since Spetember 2005. As he has a deep commitment to fostering music education of excellence, in a normal year he oversees more than 100 concerts given by Harrow's musicians. David is a Fellow of The Royal College of Organists, and also served as a member of several national Music Education committees. Regardless to his busy schedule, David still finds time to perform as an organist and a singer.
