哈罗横琴毕业班项目启动，9月开设A-Level课程

2024年4月3日下午，横琴哈罗礼德学校（以下简称：哈罗横琴）毕业班Sixth Form内部启动仪式在校园内举行，标志着该校高年级学子在今年9月将正式步入毕业班A-Level课程学习的新篇章。这次活动为学生明确未来的大学升学路线，并通过哈罗香港学生的经验分享，让在场的学生家长对毕业班学习生活有全面的认识。
活动上，哈罗横琴外方校长马千里博士发表致辞。他回顾了学校历年来的卓越教育成果，对即将步入毕业班的学生寄予厚望，强调A-Level课程不仅是通往世界顶级学府的桥梁，更是提升个人素养、培养全球视野的关键阶段。他鼓励同学们把握良机，积极进取，勇攀学术高峰，同时不忘传承哈罗精神，践行社会责任，成为未来社会的栋梁之才。

同时，哈罗横琴毕业班负责人Ms. Jana Perold女士向全场详细介绍了毕业班的特色与优势。拥有20年跨国教学经验的Perold女士，在哈罗横琴不仅教授IGCSE商科，还将教授毕业班的全球视野课程，她将自身的企业运营实践融入课堂教学，帮助学生构建理论与实践相结合的知识体系。她强调，哈罗横琴毕业班将以个性化教育为核心，通过A-Level课程体系，引导学生基于个人兴趣进行深度学习，为进入国际顶尖大学做好充分准备。
她说道，哈罗横琴的A-Level将提供数学、化学、物理、生物、经济学、艺术、英语等课程，毕业班注重培养学生的独立能力和批判性思维 ，使他们能够适应高等教育及其他教育的要求。通过结构化的学习时间安排、项目性学习和个性化教学反馈，学生们将学会如何有效的管理时间，设定学业目标以及掌握学习方法。学校为毕业生的大学申请做好了充足的准备，有大学升学指导老师为学生提供一对一的咨询及规划，以确保针对每一位学生的未来升学进行具体的、个性化的计划和调整。
此外，为迎接毕业班的到来，哈罗横琴在2024-25学年奖学金新增了专为毕业班而设的奖学金——约翰里昂奖学金，奖学金得主将获得30%学费减免。该奖项以哈罗公学创始人——约翰·里昂（1514-1592）命名。奖学金获得者需要在英式课程或中考取得优异成绩，是哈罗价值观的杰出代表，并能清楚地展示其领导才能。
此外，作为一所英式寄宿制学校，哈罗横琴还新增了寄宿奖学金，面向G4-G10的学生开放，得奖者可获得50%寄宿费减免。
同时，还有四项奖学金（学术卓越——丘吉尔奖学金、文体卓越——拜伦奖学金、全人发展——沙夫茨伯里奖学金、模范哈罗人——校长奖学金）可供G3-G10的学生申请。
此次哈罗横琴毕业班内部启动仪式的成功举办，不仅标志着该校毕业班学子正式开启了国际高中A-Level课程学习的新征程，也展现了学校对全人教育的坚守以及对培养未来领袖人才的坚定承诺。作为横琴引进的高端国际化教育项目之一，哈罗横琴毕业班将于今年9月开学。

On the afternoon of April 3, 2024, Harrow Hengqin held a Sixth Form Internal Launch Ceremony on campus, marking a new chapter for the school’s senior students who will officially enter the A-Level program in September this year. This event helped students to clarify their future university education path, as well as provided students and parents with a comprehensive understanding of the study life in Sixth Form through the sharing of experiences from Harrow Hong Kong students.

At the ceremony, Dr. Caruso, Head Master of Harrow Hengqin, delivered a speech which reviewed the school’s outstanding educational achievements over the years and expressed high hopes for the students about to enter the Sixth Form, emphasizing that the A-Level programme is not only a bridge to the world’s top academic institutions but also a critical stage in enhancing personal qualities and cultivating a global perspective. He encouraged students to seize the opportunity, be proactive, strive for academic excellence, and not forget to inherit the Harrow spirit, practice social responsibility, and become leaders of future society.

Ms. Jana Perold, the Director of Harrow Hengqin Six Form, also detailed the unique features and
advantages of the Sixth Form to the audience. With 20 years of international teaching experience, Ms. Perold not only teaches IGCSE Business Studies at Harrow Hengqin but will also teach the Global Perspectives course for the Six Form. She will integrate her business operation practices into classroom teaching, helping students build a knowledge system that combines theory and practice. She emphasized that Harrow Hengqin’s Six Form will focus on personalized education and guide students to engage in in-depth learning based on personal interests through the A-Level curriculum, preparing them thoroughly for entry into top universities in the world.
She mentioned that Harrow Hengqin’s A-Level curriculum will offer courses such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, economics, art, and English. The Sixth Form focuses on cultivating students’ independence and critical thinking skills, enabling them to meet the demands of higher education requirements. Through structured study schedules, project-based learning, and personalized teaching feedback, students will learn how to effectively manage time, set academic goals, and master learning methods. The school has made ample preparations for graduates’ university applications, with UGO teachers (university guidance counselors) providing one-on-one consultations and planning to ensure specific, personalized plans and adjustments for each student’s future academic progression.
Furthermore, Harrow Hengqin has announced a new scholarship programme for the 2024-25 academic year specifically for the Sixth Form—the John Lyon Scholarship, named after the founder of Harrow School, John Lyon (1514-1592). Winners of this scholarship will receive a 30% tuition fee reduction. Scholarship winners must achieve excellent results in the international curriculum or the Zhong Kao, be outstanding representatives of Harrow’s values, and clearly demonstrate their leadership abilities.
Additionally, as a British boarding school, Harrow Hengqin has also introduced a boarding scholarship open to students from G4-G10, with winner receiving a 50% reduction in boarding fees.
There are also four other scholarships available for G3-G10 students to apply for: the Academic Excellence—Churchill Scholarship, the Arts and Sports Excellence—Byron Scholarship, the Holistic Development—Shaftesbury Scholarship, and the Model Harrovian—Head Master’s Scholarship.
The Sixth Form Internal Launch Ceremony of Harrow Hengqin signifies that the school’s students will soon embark on a new journey of learning A-Level curriculum, while also showcases the school’s commitment to holistic education and nurturing future leaders. As one of the top education school in Hengqin, Harrow Hengqin’s Sixth Form will start in September this year.
The programme provides a more diversified international education platform for students in the Greater Bay Area, especially the Hengqin-Macao region, advances the main purpose of educational development in the cooperation zone, namely promoting the quality, modernization, and internationalization in education development.
