【联合国阅读日】- TWIS庆祝活动 Celebrating the UN World Book Day

世界图书日 World Book Day

世界阅读日，又称世界阅读和版权日，是联合国教育、科学及文化组织（教科文组织）于1995年为促进阅读、出版和版权而举办的一项活动。

为了让阅读和学习变得有趣，并将此成为我们在TWIS生活的一部分，我们的学校图书管理员Leonah老师在上周邀请了整个学校社区参加这次的庆祝活动。我们一起制作了一本有声读物、首次举办了TWIS书套展览以分享学生自制的作品、也为PYP家长举行了一次简介会。一起来看看TWIS全校师生和家长如何好好庆祝世界阅读日！

World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day is an event organized in 1995 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright.

To make reading and learning fun, as well as become part of our lives here at TWIS, our school librarian, Ms. Leonah, invited the whole school community to join the week-long celebration last week. We read together to create an audiobook, held the first TWIS Book Jacket Exhibition to display students’ homemade book jackets, and hosted an info session for PYP parents. Let’s take a look at how the TWIS community made the most of World Book Day!

我们让孩子们以创作书套的形式来表达自己。这些充满个性化的书套不仅好看，或许也能鼓励他们多阅读或激发他们成为插画家！

Children are invited to express themselves through a drawing in the form of a book jacket. These personalized book jackets not only look awesome, but may also inspire them to become enthusiastic readers or book illustrators!

Workshop on Reading for PYP Parents

为了让更多家长下班后参与家校活动，我们在4月29日晚上，邀请了来自1-5年级的家长和学生一起出席由Leonah老师主持的线上家长简介会。经过老师详细的分享后，希望TWIS PYP的家长们能更好的了解到学校如何鼓励学生阅读，以及他们在阅读日外怎样在家里帮助孩子培养对阅读的热情。

Families from grade 1 – 5 were invited to attend the parent info session (virtual edition) hosted by Ms. Leonah on the evening of April 29 to allow more parents to join when they come back from work. After a thorough sharing, we hope TWIS PYP parents have learned more about how we engage students in reading and what they can do at home to build their child’s enthusiasm for books beyond the World Book Day.

Ms. Leonah Arroyo

图书管理员

School Librarian

Leonah老师拥有图书馆和信息科学的硕士学位，以及获得弗罗里达州教育部（FLDOE）颁发的阅读认可。作为美国的公共图书馆管理员，她曾参与各项推动儿童阅读计划的活动。

Ms. Leonah holds a Master‘s degree in Library and Information Science, as well as a Reading Endorsement from the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE). She has participated in various early readers initiatives as a public librarian in the USA.
