AMC stands for American Mathematics Competition and has been organised by the Mathematics Association of America since 1950. The AMC series of mathematics competitions is a global mathematics competition with several levels, including AMC8, AMC10/12, etc. It aims to stimulate students' interest in mathematics and improve their mathematical abilities, as well as to promote global exchange and cooperation in the field of mathematics education for teenager. 

AMC是美国数学竞赛（American Mathematics Competition）的缩写，由美国数学协会（Mathematics Association of America）自1950年起主办。AMC系列数学竞赛是一项全球性的数学竞赛，包括AMC8、AMC10/12等多个级别，旨在激发学生的数学兴趣，提高他们的数学能力，同时促进全球青少年数学教育领域的交流与合作。

The questions in the AMC8 competitions are designed to be both simple and difficult so that students of all levels can feel challenged. The questions cover a wide range of mathematical areas such as geometry, algebra, probability, and number theory, and correspond closely to the U.S. mathematics syllabus for Year7 and Year8. Each year, more than 300,000 students participate in this competition, which is one of the key events in inviting them to attend the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

AMC8竞赛的试题设计精心，简至难兼具，让任何程度的学生都能感受到挑战。试题内容广泛涵盖几何、代数、概率、数论等数学领域，与美国7、8年级的数学课程大纲紧密对应。每年，都有超过30万名学生参与这一竞赛，它同时也是选拔参加国际数学奥林匹克（IMO）的重要赛事之一。
