本学年，我们十二年级的学生一直在努力提高自己的英语能力和技能。我们一直在不遗余力地学习雅思，这是一项供非母语人士参加的标准化语言测试。

他们学习了阅读和听力中不同题型的解题方法，包括选择题、配对题、真假题和完形填空题。他们还学习了如何在阅读和听力过程中通过略读和扫读或查找关键词来把握大意和发现细节。

此外，他们还专注于课外英语活动。例如，他们在阅读月期间努力阅读英文原版小说，在拼写大赛期间背诵更多新单词。

This academic year we Year 12 students have been striving to develop their English abilities and skills to a deeper extent. We have been sparing no efforts to learn IELTS, which is a standardised language test for non-natives to take. They have studied different ways to solve question types in reading and listening, including multiple choice questions, matching questions, true-or-false questions, and completion questions. They also learned about how to grasp the main idea and find details by skimming and scanning or locating key words during reading and listening. Besides, they also concentrate on extracurricular English activities. For example, they have been working hard to read original novels in English during reading month and reciting more new words during Spelling Bee Contest.

我们十一年级的学生一直在努力探索不同的主题和话题，同时为在IGCSE英语作为第二语言考试中取得理想的成绩而努力。

今年，我们莱克顿英语组一直在努力创造令人兴奋的创新课程，以提高学生的英语技能，培养他们对英语的热情。

Our Year 11's have been working hard on exploring different themes and topics while working toward achieving their desired grades in IGCSE English as a Second Language. In our first semester the students had the opportunity to give talks, prepare presentations and even design a 5-day holiday brochure that they pitched to their classmates. In the second semester, alongside intensive preparation for the upcoming summer exams, we have been focusing on reading with the students participating in various reading activities. For our IGCSE English Language students we have been further exploring different forms of literature and learning to analyse language and structure. They are becoming more proficient with their use of literary devices; such as metaphors and similies. Our English department here at Lucton has been striving to create exciting and innovative classes this year that allow our students to improve their English skills and develop a passion for English.

After completing textbook units one through four last semester, the Y10 students have initiated their study of the fifth unit this term, focusing on Social Issues. They have expressed their comprehension of charity both orally and in writing, exploring avenues to assist others or themselves, different methods of participating in charitable endeavors, and recounting their involvement in charitable events. Simultaneously, we have integrated online platforms to enhance students' vocabulary about charitable activities and social issues.

Additionally, this semester, we have promoted English reading proficiency and enthusiasm through events such as the Spelling Bee and Reading Month, encouraging all students to expand their vocabulary and cultivate a habit of reading in English.

This semester Year 9 students are preparing to adapt to life in Lucton School. We have been working hard to develop basic English vocabulary so that we can understand conversations between students and teachers. By learning our textbook Headways, we now have a command of basic tenses, including present simple, present continuous and past simple. Also, we are deeply engaged in the activities initiated by English department, like reading original version of English books during the reading month as well as reciting and dictating words in Spelling Bee Contest. Additionally, we encourage to speak more English on campus to practice their oral English skills.

In addition to our normal classes we also have our English Support classes which allows those students who wish to improve in certain areas to attend personalised improvement classes. This year students have been working on their grammar skills and improving their spoken English.
