With diverse backgrounds, experiences, and a shared commitment to nurturing our students’ growth, these new teachers bring fresh energy and perspectives that will enrich our vibrant learning environment. Rafi Yamani

MYP Visual Art Teacher

Abderrafii Kadiri Yamani, known as Rafi, is an MYP Art Teacher at ISNS, focusing on Lower MYP grades. From Casablanca, Morocco, he has a dual degree in Multimedia and Design from ES2IM / Infodesign’ Sup and a Bachelor’s from the Fédération Européenne des Écoles (FEDE), along with a PGCE, enhancing his teaching methods.


With six years of teaching experience and a background as a Concept Artist and Comic Book Artist, Rafi has a passion for art as a means for young people to express themselves and relax. 


Rafi is excited to bring his diverse experiences and passion for arts education to the ISNS community, helping to inspire and develop the creative potential of his students. He aims to create a learning space that encourages artistic expression and improves well-being.


Outside the classroom, Rafi is an avid reader of comic books, an enthusiastic road tripper, and a dedicated photographer. He is currently enhancing his linguistic skills by studying Japanese and Chinese, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.


Liang Yidan

MYP Chinese Language and Literature Teacher

Yidan is a dedicated MYP/DP Chinese Language and Literature Teacher. with a rich academic and professional background. She was born and raised in Chongqing, China. Yidan pursued her undergraduate studies at Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies in 2020. She furthered her education by completing a Master's degree in Chinese Culture and Language at the National University of Singapore in 2022.


With a strong foundation in both classical and contemporary Chinese literature, Yidan has taught at several local colleges in China. There, she taught Chinese Language, Literature, and Culture to a diverse group of students, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of Chinese literary traditions.


Excited to join the faculty at ISNS, Yidan is eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with students and colleagues. She is committed to fostering a supportive and inspiring learning environment, where students can explore the richness of Chinese culture and language.


Mildred Khakasa Murule

MYP/DP Individuals and Societies Teacher

Mildred grew up in Eldoret, Kenya, in an education filled household where she nurtured her passion for the profession. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education majoring in curriculum studies and instruction from American College of Education – Indianapolis.


Mildred’s teaching journey began in Nairobi Kenya, teaching IGCSE business. She later moved to Saudi Arabia for 3 years extensively teaching and delivering vocational curriculum. Her passion for teaching saw her move to China as the Head of department for Business and Economics as well as teaching IBDP Business Management since 2019. Being committed to giving her students contemporary perspectives, she engages in regular professional development through participation in skill-development workshops, research seminars and in-school PD sessions. As both an educator and a parent, she is passionate about leveraging technology and analytics to enhance learning experiences in the classroom.


Mildred enjoys travelling, social gatherings and cooking for her family and friends.


Anzelle De Wet

K4 Homeroom Teacher

Anzelle de Wet is a passionate, active and versatile professional with 8 years of experience working with and teaching young children. 


Her teaching methods are influenced by Loris Malaguzzi’s exploratory, engaging and creative Reggio Emilia/Play-Based Learning approaches.  With a B.Mus. degree from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), she is often seen incorporating guitar, drums and percussion in her classroom and also taught music for 2 years in her hometown Johannesburg.

While teaching in China, she earned the IB certifications (Cat-1 & Cat-3) in Hangzhou and participated in education workshops in Shanghai, where she collaborated with educators from around the world. These enriching experiences motivated her to pursue a formal career in education and earn her Post-Graduate Teaching License part-time.


Anzelle is an advocate for children’s voice, choice, and ownership and believes in self-directed, experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. She believes in play and exploration in all areas of life and considers herself an adventure-seeker interested in nature, photography and music-making.


Johann Van Deventer

G5 Homeroom Teacher

Johann hails from Bloemfontein, South Africa, where he earned his teaching qualification with a focus on English and Pedagogy from the University of the Free State. With over two decades of teaching experience, Johann has taught English across various grade levels, from primary to secondary, and has served as a homeroom teacher for multiple grades.


His career includes eight years at United Private Schools in Muscat, Oman, where he taught English and Science and guided younger students as a homeroom teacher. Johann then moved to China, where he has continued his educational journey, teaching in both kindergarten and primary settings.


Outside of the classroom, Johann is passionate about traveling, reading, and cycling.


Monica Ramakers

PYP Visual Art Teacher

Monica Ramakers taught elementary school in Canada for 25 years. Originally from the Netherlands, she moved to Canada at the age of 11. She earned her BA from the University of Guelph, where she majored in Visual Art and Drama. She graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Education from the Artist in the Community Program.


Monica ran an art and drama children’s camp that focused on Art en Plein Air and directed Shakespearean shows for over 15 years. She is known for creating joyful and inspiring classroom environments. She is grateful to have mentored and inspired young people for decades, many of whom have become artists, actors, and teachers themselves.


Monica loves being out in nature, especially hiking, cycling, skiing, and paddleboarding. She is eager to share her experience and passion for the arts with students globally and is thrilled to join the Art Department at ISNS.


Sebastien Creton

PYP French Teacher

Originally from Marseille, France, Sébastien arrived in China in 2014. He has been working in education since he was in France as a teaching assistant and English teacher in Primary schools. He worked as an English teacher in training centers and kindergarten. He was also a French and Spanish teacher in Middle and High School in Shanghai before joining the team at ISNS in 2024, where he now serves as a Primary school French teacher. 


Sébastien holds a Master of Applied languages (French, English and Spanish) from Université Aix-Marseille as well as master’s degree in English and French Linguistics from Liverpool John Moores University. His education and experiences inform her teaching practice, in which he aims to facilitate student learning a foreign by fostering a friendly classroom environment where students feel comfortable to take risks to challenge themselves socially, emotionally, and academically. 


Sébastien is committed to highlighting the action component of the IB curriculum, focusing on how students can develop and apply classroom knowledge to address global issues in an effective way. Great teamwork with dedicated IB educators is central in Sébastien’s work philosophy as we teachers are all collaborating to support students' academic and social-emotional development as they evolve into compassionate, solution-oriented global citizens.

Yidan 是MYP/DP中国语言文学教师。具有丰富的学术和专业背景。她在中国重庆出生并长大。Yidan本科就读于亚利桑那州立大学,并于2020年获得东亚研究学士学位。2022年,她在新加坡国立大学完成了中国文化与语言硕士学位。


Yidan在中国古典文学和当代文学方面都有很强的基础,曾在中国几所地方大学任教。在那里,她向不同群体的学生讲授中国语言、文学和文化,提高他们对中国传统文学的理解和欣赏。


很高兴加入ISNS, Yidan期待与学生和同事分享她的知识和热情。她致力于营造一个支持和鼓舞人心的学习环境,让学生可以探索丰富的中国文化和语言。

Johann来自南非布隆方丹,他在自由州大学获得了教学资格,主修英语和教育学。拥有超过二十年的教学经验,Johann曾在多个年级教授英语课程,从小学到中学并担任多个年级的班主任。


他的职业生涯包括在阿曼马斯喀特的联合私立学校工作的八年时间,期间他教授英语和科学,并作为班主任指导低年级学生。此后,Johann移居中国,继续他的幼儿园和小学教学教育之旅。


在课堂之外,Johann热爱旅行、阅读和骑行。

Monica 举办过艺术和戏剧儿童夏令营,专注于户外写生,并执导了15年以上的莎士比亚戏剧。她以创造快乐和鼓舞人心的课堂环境而闻名。她很感激自己几十年来一直指导和激励着年轻人,其中许多人已经成为艺术家、演员和教师。

Sébastien 拥有艾克斯-马赛大学应用语言(法语、英语和西班牙语)硕士学位,以及利物浦约翰摩尔斯大学英语和法语语言学硕士学位。在他的教学实践中,他的目标是通过营造一个友好的课堂环境来促进学生学习外语,让学生在社交、情感和学术上敢于冒险挑战自己。


Sébastien致力于突出IB课程的行动部分,重点关注学生如何发展和应用课堂知识,以有效的方式解决全球问题。Sébastien的工作理念是与专业的IB教育工作者合作,支持学生的学业和社会情感发展,使他们成为富有同情心、以解决方案为导向的全球公民。
