MAP 测试

MAP is not like other assessments. It is not something for which students study. MAP measures the level of learning growth over a period of time. The data from is not a commentary on student achievement, but rather, it allows us as a school to determine the effectiveness of teaching and learning. We thank our students for being focused and doing their best on the assessment this week!

G12 IBDP Exams Start

G12 IBDP 考试开始

Grade 12 students began their Diploma Programme exams on April 24th. While on exam leave, students are free to come into the lounge in room 623 to relax, review, and recharge before taking their exams. Good luck to our graduating class!

12年级的同学在4月24日开始了IB文凭课程考试。在备考休假期间，同学们可以自由进出623房间休息室，在考前复习、放松和充电。祝我们的毕业班学子们好运！

G7 Math Class

G7 数学课

Grade 7 mathematics students honed their data analysis abilities by engaging in practical exercises. First, they gathered information by measuring the height of their peers. Then, they examined the data by employing measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion and analyzing the results.

七年级数学课上，同学们通过实践练习加强自己的数据分析能力。他们首先测量同龄人的身高来收集数据，然后使用中心趋势和离散度的测量来检测数据并对结果进行分析。

G12 Senior Lunch

On April 17th, all Grade 12 students, their teachers, and administrators gathered to celebrate our last meal together before graduation. The Senior Superlative lunch includes a traditional roasting of the faculty based on their quirky characteristics with awards that are given by students. Some of this year's awards included "Most likely to wear fly socks" (Mr. George), "Most likely to be lurking mysteriously around the corner" (Mr. Doige), and "Most likely to rap Kendrick Lamar (Mr. Bolduc). To cap things off, the faculty shared their own list of Senior Superlatives to poke some fun back at the students. Examples of these awards included "Most likely to be doing work from another class in your class." Sharing good food and lots of laughter was a wonderful way to celebrate our final day together as a full group prior to the IB DP exams and preparations for graduation in May.

4月17日所有12年级毕业生、教师和教学管理层欢聚一堂庆祝我们毕业前最后的午餐。毕业生午餐活动有一项传统环节是根据教职员的独特点由学生给他们颁奖。今年的获奖者包括但不限于获得 “最有可能穿最酷袜子奖”的Mr. George、“最有可能神秘地潜伏在角落奖” 的Mr. Doige 和 “最有可能说唱 Kendrick Lamar 奖”的Mr. Bolduc。最后教职员们也分享了他们自己调侃毕业生的获奖清单，例如“最有可能在你班上做另一个班的作业奖”。我们作为一个团队整体，在美食和欢笑声中共同欢庆即将到来的IBDP大考，迎接五月的毕业季。

HS Soccer Takes the Podium at ACAMIS in Macau

After last season’s 3rd place finish for both squads at the ACAMIS Orange Division tournament in Tianjin, both teams arrived in Macau on a mission. Through the first two days of the three-day event, it was clear that our girls were the team to beat. Fortunately, we were just too good, and our girls took home gold with a 3-1 victory in the championship. Our boys' team also played an amazing tournament and showed great character on the field. They fell just short in the championship but proudly won the runner-up trophy and were awarded the Spirit of ACAMIS Award. A special thanks to the Seniors and to the many parents who came to support the event!

ACAMIS Badminton

Last week, our high school's geckos competed in the ACAMIS badminton tournament in Nanjing against 26 other schools. Our team successfully advanced to the Cup Tournament (equivalent to the first division) following the round-robin matches. Notably, in the individual event, Athena C (G11) won the bronze medal for Girls' Singles, while Iris P (G11) and Stacy W (G11) secured fourth place in Girls' Doubles. All players representing SIS demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship throughout the tournament, and we take immense pride in their remarkable accomplishments and performances.

上周我们高中的壁虎羽毛球队前往南京参加了ACAMIS羽毛球锦标赛，对战其他26所学校的选手。我队经过循环赛成功晋级（相当于甲级）奖杯赛。尤为瞩目的是在个人赛上， Athena C (G11) 获得女子单打铜牌，Iris P (G11) 和 Stacy W (G11) 获得女子双打第四名。所有代表SIS参赛的队员在整场锦标赛上都表现出了非凡的体育精神，我们为他们的优秀成绩和表现感到自豪。

MS Basketball Competes at PRC Exchange

The boys headed to UISG to get three games of action in versus the five other schools in our division in the Pearl River Conference. As this was an Exchange, we sent a boys developmental squad to gain some good experience playing against skilled teams in the region. The girls played at ISA on Saturday and came away as the 4th seed as they prepared for the end of season tournament. Congrats to both teams! We had a fun day of basketball.

Our Track & Field team attended the second mini-meet series on Friday afternoon where our athletes once again had the opportunity to polish their skills as they prepare for the end of season PRC & ACAMIS events. Go Geckos!

Thanks to everyone who supported our Dive4Love Earth Day fundraiser at Net Valley this week. Along with the RAT group’s (student-led Roof and Terrace group) cookies, plants, and Dive4Love merchandise, we raised a total of 2541rmb! All money raised will be donated to Dive4Love who work to preserve China’s coral reefs. You can follow their official account via the QR code below.

TASSEL 俱乐部

TASSEL is holding a Candy Shop Fundraiser next Monday and Tuesday during lunch and after school! We will be selling three different types of jellies, and the price will be determined by the weight of jellies you take! All proceeds will be donated directly toward the TASSEL organization!

TASSEL (teaching and sharing skills to enrich lives) is a non-profit organization that focuses on changing the lives of rural Cambodians through English education; teaching job skills; providing food and medical aid; and sponsoring needy families.

TASSEL Club at SIS seeks to provide help to the children in Cambodia through indirect and direct means. Our club regularly holds fundraisers to raise funds, which will be donated to the TASSEL organization at the end of every year. We also teach English to the children through video calls and correcting the children's essays.

Tassel 俱乐部将在下周一和周二午餐时间和放学后举行糖果屋募捐！我们将销售三种不同类型的果冻，价格将根据购买重量而定，所有收益将直接捐赠给Tassel组织！

Tickets are 350rmb per person. Thanks to the PSA for supporting the price of tickets again for this year’s prom! The theme is Hollywood! Dress the part and be ready to have some Hollywood-style fun!

The location this year is Futian Shangri-La in the Chairman’s Room on Level 40 of the hotel.

GAUSS Contests

GAUSS 数学竞赛

University of Waterloo is hosting their annual GAUSS math contests for students in G7 & G8, and any interested students in G6. Students will be given 60 minutes to complete 25 multiple choice questions. Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem-solving skills. These contests provide great opportunities to inspire students who already have a strong interest in mathematics, and also help to increase confidence and ability in mathematics for other students.

滑铁卢大学正在招募7和8年级的同学以及任何感兴趣的6年级同学，进行年度GAUSS数学竞赛。学生将有60分钟的时间完成25个选择题。数竞赛大部分问题不是测试内容，而是测试逻辑思维和数学问题解决技能。这为对数学有浓厚兴趣的同学提供了好机会，也有助于增加其他学生对数学的信心和能力。
